I've been having some blah feelings about the blog and I'm not sure why. I have a few posts drafted but none of them are really jumping out at me or inspiring the creative process... And I've always vowed to never post for posting sake... That just sounds like BS to me and if I wouldn't want to read that I'm really not going to post it for you to read!
So what's going with the apparent hiatus?
Well it started with being super busy which also meant being super busy at work and not really wanting to look at a computer in my down time. I was still cooking and even creating recipes (hence the drafts) but I just couldn't find the motivation to polish and post something for the blog.
But things have calmed down a bit and still - no posts.
I started thinking about if I wanted to keep doing the blog... I mean it is my hobby so if I'm not into it why keep going right? But I do still enjoy it. I love hearing when someone has tried a recipe or been inspired by one... And I also love having a place to keep all my recipes. I legitimately forget foods I love or used to make... This happens all the time! Then I take a gander through the blog and remember - oh yeah! I used to make that all the time!!
So I think the moral of the story is - the blog is staying.
But what next? The content of the blog has always largely depended on what I'm excited about at the moment. Usually a food and sometimes a fitness thing. The only thing I'm really excited about right now is that it's finally looking like the bulk of winter is over. Hell, I'm even planning on my first outdoor run of the year this weekend! But I'm not exactly going to start writing about the weather (you can breathe a sigh of relief now).
But really, who knows what could happen. I know right now I can't manage more than twice a week and it might even look more like once a week so bear with me. But for those of you who are still reading along... thanks so much for your readership over the years and your patience at the moment!
So what have I been doing lately with all my non-blogging time?
- Well for starters I had house guests basically every weekend in February and was playing hostess during Ottawa Winterlude. Winter may seem like a poor time to visit cold-ass Ottawa but this city really does embrace it's cold weather!
- I've been really settling in to my new apartment and neighbourhood and just enjoying the little things like reading.
- I've been slowly getting back to running post injury. I'm now up to 2 runs a week which is exciting for me. Plus lots of yoga and foam rolling to compensate.
- And finally, I've been walking around this beautiful city a bit more now that I live in a more convenient area and the days are getting longer and milder.
I really never get sick of this view!

Do you live in a city that embraces winter?
Do you join in?
This is my 3rd winter in Ottawa and I'm just starting to take part and not boycott the cold :P
